How Provenance Tokens Work
Each Provenance Token captures the complete history of a diamond, including:
Mining location and origin details

Kimberley Process compliance
Chain-of-custody records (export, import, cutting, polishing)
Professional photos, videos, and gemological reports
Updates are added as new cryptographic blocks whenever the diamond moves through the supply chain, creating a single source of truth accessible to anyone via a wallet or blockchain explorer.

KimberLite’s Provenance Tokens are applied in two key ways — enhancing transparency for our own tokenized diamonds and providing a professional service to the broader diamond industry.
1. Provenance for eDiamonds and eCarats
Every eDiamond and eCarat on the KimberLite platform comes with its own dedicated Provenance Token. This token includes all documentation and media, confirming the stone is conflict-free and ethically sourced.
Holders can redeem the physical diamond at any time (delivered free via Malca-Amit). Even after redemption, the Provenance Token remains permanently with the owner as a complete, tamper-proof history of the gem.
2. Provenance Tokens as a Service (for Miners & Exporters)
KimberLite offers Provenance Tokens as a B2B service to diamond miners and exporters, primarily in Africa.
Experts from our sister company BSR Global independently verify the authenticity, quality, and existence of each consignment. Once verified, a Provenance Token is minted and shared with potential buyers. This builds immediate trust and helps accelerate sales.
The service is charged at a fixed percentage of the consignment value, with all fees reinvested into the KimberLite ecosystem.
