Does the stone have a good natural shape (like Octahedron)?
Good shapes usually produce better polished diamonds with less waste.
Irregular or very flat stones may result in lower value after cutting.
Color
Is the diamond close to colorless (D to H range)?
Avoid stones with strong yellow or brown tints unless they are Fancy Colored diamonds.
